Administrative Assistant (Fixed Term) – Children’s Quality Assurance & Safeguarding Team

About the Role
The Children’s Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Team is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide critical administrative support to safeguarding services in Bath & North East Somerset. This is a fixed-term role ending 30 October 2026.
You will support the safeguarding and quality assurance service, which oversees:
- Child protection issues, including children at risk and those subject to child protection plans
- Children in care under local authority placements
- Independent Chairs and Independent Reviewing Officers, coordinating child protection conferences
- The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), managing allegations against professionals working with children
This role requires someone who excels in a high-pressure, team-based environment with strong communication skills, confidentiality, and discretion. You must be comfortable working with colleagues, professionals, and members of the public with patience, professionalism, and warmth.
What You’ll Do
- Provide administrative, organisational, and logistical support to Senior Storyboard Operatives (Scoping & Assessor)
- Maintain accurate record-keeping, meeting documentation, and communications
- Collaborate with independent parties in safeguarding panels, conferences, and inquiries
- Assist in triage, monitoring, and follow-up processes for cases under review
- Coordinate resources, agendas, and procedural documentation for safeguarding duties
- Support implementation of safeguarding strategies and best practices
- Manage confidential, sensitive information in compliance with data protection (DPA 2018 & UK GDPR) and local authority guidelines
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Experience working in a highly regulated or sensitive environment (e.g., social care, child welfare, healthcare, or administrative support roles)
- Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced IT literacy
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Analytical mindset to support evidence-based decision-making in child welfare cases
- Resilience and adaptability for a fast-paced, reactive environment
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including where necessary for safeguarding emergencies (some travel required)

Recruitment Process
- Successful applicants will be required to complete an administrative IT test as part of the selection process

- Bath (office-based, where applicable)
