Outwood Academy Bydales
Start: September 2026
Grade: 2 SCP 3
Actual Salary: £17,254 - £17,525 (FTE £24,796 - £25,185)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Contract: Temporary 1 Year - Term Time Only plus 5 days
Are you organized and ready to provide vital administrative and clerical assistance to senior staff? Join us as an Admin Assistant, responsible for providing administrative support to the academy and specifically supporting the PA to the Principal/Office Manager. This role requires providing confidential assistance and ensuring smooth internal operations, including supporting the Reception function at particular times of the day.

Outwood Academy Bydales is an 11-16 school located in the beautiful coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the North York Moors National Park and with spectacular views of the coastline. We are extremely proud of our tradition of serving the families of the community of Marske and surrounding areas. Our recent Ofsted Inspection recognised the many strengths of the school as we secured judgements of Good across all areas. The report was extremely positive and had many highlights, including that we are 'an ambitious school with high standards', that 'Staff care deeply for pupils', that 'Pupils are happy and demonstrate industrious attitudes to learning' and that 'Pupils experience great success’.

Responsibilities
The Admin Assistant provides administrative support to the academy and the PA to the Principal/Office Manager. The role involves providing confidential administrative and clerical assistance. Duties include assisting with internal and external meeting arrangements, such as room and catering booking and minute-taking. The assistant undertakes regular filing, administers the academy's postal system, and answers incoming calls. The role supports the Reception function at particular times of the day, taking responsibility for greeting and dealing with visitors.

Qualifications
Requires experience working in an administration/office environment. Essential skills include effective communication (verbal and written), ability to respect confidentiality, and competence in using standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office. Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and relate to students in a pleasant manner, recognising potential child safeguarding issues. Experience working in a school environment is desirable.
