An Exciting Opportunity to Join the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Team within University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, as an administrator.
Job Details
The post is part-time (30 hours per week) and is a permanent position based in the breast screening unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Working days are Tuesday to Friday with start times of 08:00 or 08:30 and 16:30 or 17:00 finish depending on rota duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Working and Independence: Evidence of team working as well as the ability to work independently.
- Relationship Management: Maintain effective relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
- Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to focus on, and pay close attention to detail is essential to this role, where long periods of concentration are required.
- Customer Service: Provide an excellent customer service to service users, members of the public, and other external stakeholders.
- Administrative Support: Provide a flexible resource to support the Programme Manager and Administration Manager in providing an efficient administrative service.
- Administrative Duties: Participating in a wide range of administrative duties, which include the coordination of the patient pathway for the NHS Breast Screening Programme and symptomatic service, acting as lead administrator on a rotational basis, booking appointments, and processing results.
- Call/Recall Process: Contribute to the effective operation of the call/recall process using the national breast screening system, adhering to national and local guidelines. This will include organisation of own and other team members' work.

Requirements
- Previous administrative experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of using information systems and Microsoft Office packages.
Working Environment
The department is a busy but friendly department with a strong team environment, with staff needing to cross cover and support each other.
Locations
We operate from three main hospitals:
- Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow
- Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)
- Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal
Additionally, we operate from a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

Services Provided
- FGH and RLI: A range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
- WGH: A range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
- All Main Hospitals: A range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
