Connect Plus Service (CPS) Defect Management Team – Job Description

About The Role

Join our Connect Plus Service (CPS) Defect Management Team and be integral to maintaining and enhancing the M25’s planned and reactive maintenance infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage, administer, and report on maintenance-related data, providing critical support to ensure the smooth operation of the UK’s most critical transport network. This includes:

  • Updating maintenance management systems
  • Supporting procurement and equipment ordering
  • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives

If you are passionate about maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, we would love to hear from you. This role contributes directly to ensuring the M25 remains safe, resilient, and optimally functioning for millions of users.

Potential bases: Dartford, Leatherhead, or South Mimms (with site offices across the M25 network).


What You’ll Be Doing

Core Responsibilities

  • Admin & Data Management

    • Produce high-quality reports, documentation, and collateral for reactive maintenance teams
    • Deliver accurate weekly and monthly data reporting to assess operational performance
    • Maintain up-to-date work schedules, issue work instructions, and ensure compliance
    • Provide holiday and sickness cover to maintain continuity in maintenance operations
  • Operational & Procurement Support

    • Liaise with Supply Chain Procurement to process material, stock, and equipment orders (PPE, tools)
    • Update and track maintenance records and work instructions within the management system

  • Training & Compliance

    • Assist in managing training records, identifying skill gaps, and reporting performance
    • Ensure adherence to Zero Harm safety processes and organisational standards
  • Stakeholder & Leadership Support

    • Develop professional slide decks for Senior Leadership Team meetings
    • Provide administrative support (agendas, minutes, follow-ups) for internal communications
    • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to promote awareness of good practices and drive improvements
  • Event & Administrative Coordination

    • Support the planning, organisation, and delivery of internal events
    • Assist in maintaining open engagement with operational stakeholders

Who We’re Looking For

Key Requirements

  • Strong analytical eye with precision in data handling
  • Excellent IT and Excel proficiency (advanced Excel, PowerPoint, corporate systems)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven administrative expertise in a fast-paced environment
  • High organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivating, proactive, and independent worker
  • Full UK driving licence
