About the Role
Hazel Cottage School is entering an exciting phase of growth with the opening of our second site, and we're looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and compassionate Administrator to join our dedicated team.
This is much more than an administration role. As one of the first people pupils, families, visitors, and professionals will meet, you'll help create a warm, welcoming, and professional environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
Working across our specialist SEND provision, you'll play a vital role behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school so that our staff can focus on what matters most – helping children and young people thrive.
If you love variety, enjoy working with people, and take pride in keeping things organised, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing efficient, confidential, and high-quality administrative support across the school.
- Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, carers, and professionals, delivering a friendly and professional reception service.
- Managing telephone and email enquiries and directing them appropriately.
- Maintaining accurate pupil and staff records, ensuring all documentation is secure and up to date.
- Supporting attendance, admissions, and general school administration processes.
- Assisting with the organisation of meetings, events, training, and school communications.
- Supporting finance and purchasing processes, including invoices and ordering supplies where required.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the school remains organised, compliant, and focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for pupils.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
