Senior Administrator role (Centenary House, Eastbourne – Speech and Language Therapy Team)
Our Speech and Language Therapy team based at Centenary House, Eastbourne, is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Administrator to support our clinical services by managing frontline administrative tasks and ensuring smooth running of the division.
About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated, articulate Administrator to provide excellent customer care, efficient systems support, and seamless coordination each day. As our Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our frontline Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) can focus on delivering high-quality care by handling essential back-office unseen tasks.
The focus of the role is on administration, communication, and service improvement; it is a dayer of high-profile impact supporting professional staff and maintaining a patient-facing service that protects patient safety and assists with access to therapy.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Data entry and general administration supporting the therapy service
- Appointment & diary management for the SLT team, ensuring efficient use of SLT time
- Providing excellent customer care to all stakeholders (patients, carers, GPs, staff, external organisations)
- Taking incoming telephone calls, clarifying needs, and acting on enquiries, liaising with appropriate staff
- Engaging with multiple stakeholders including SLTs, problem-solving issues, and maintaining meaningful relationships
Clinical & Operational Support
- Act as key support to the community SLT team, enabling a smooth flow of administrative tasks
- Use initiative and discreet judgement when providing guidance on administrative duties
- Presents topics and briefs to others for SLT and wider service decision-making

Organisational & Process-Driven Tasks
- Undertake Health & Safety (H&S) responsibilities as required by the service
- Support administrative projects to improve accessibility and efficiency of SALT services and signposting
- Support the induction of new members of the team, ensuring an effective and welcoming start
- Minute-taking and diary planning for key meetings as directed
Cross-NHS Team Work
- Collaborate closely with Head of Service, Operational Support and wider multi-disciplinary team
- Provide clear answers to enquiries about services. Ensure smooth running of service processes and systems, where necessary working alongside the IT support team
Essential Criteria
- The ability to work independently while directing requests unwillingly as necessary to the wider SALT team
- Exceptional communication skills. Ability to communicate professional manner with multiple stakeholders (patients, staff, external organisations)
- A commitment to improving speech and language therapy services
- Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills to assist with demanding and varied administrative challenges
- Willingness to enhance own skills in line with professional development requirements
- Knowledge of NHS processes and systems
Requirements
This role requires some basic IT experience such as effective usage of common routines and how to maximise effective functionality when undertaking daily administrative tasks for the service.
