Admiral Nurse
About Belong Belong is a forward‑thinking care organisation committed to providing outstanding, relationship‑centred support for people living with dementia and their families. Working in partnership with Dementia UK, we deliver expert Admiral Nursing services that make a real difference at some of the most challenging times in people’s lives. About the Role As an Admiral Nurse, you will provide highly specialised dementia nursing expertise to families affected by dementia, with a particular focus on supporting family carers. This is a senior, autonomous clinical role where you will work therapeutically with families, influence best practice across Belong, and contribute to the ongoing development of our Admiral Nursing service. You will be professionally supported through Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurse framework, clinical supervision, and practice development, while remaining embedded within Belong’s villages and communities. Key Responsibilities Clinical Practice Deliver specialist nursing assessments and evidence‑based interventions to families affected by dementia, including during periods of transition and bereavement Provide emotional, psychological, and practical support to family carers and, where appropriate, people living with dementia Deliver therapeutic interventions to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and carer breakdown Act as an advocate for carers and families, supporting access to services and coordinated care Liaise closely with GPs, health and social care professionals, and voluntary agencies Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to case conferences and multidisciplinary working Professional & Service Development Promote best practice in dementia care in line with NICE guidance, national dementia strategies, and Admiral Nurse Service Standards Offer consultancy, advice, and guidance to colleagues and partner organisations Contribute to audit, evaluation, and development of the Admiral Nursing service Use the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework and participate fully in clinical supervision and practice development Education & Leadership Deliver and contribute to dementia education, training, and awareness activities Act as a role model for high‑quality dementia care and support learning within Belong Support mentoring, supervision, and practice development for other professionals where appropriate About You Essential Registered Nurse (RN – RMN, RGN or RNLD) with current NMC registration Significant post‑registration experience working with people living with dementia or older adults with mental health needs Strong experience supporting family carers in complex and emotionally challenging situations Advanced assessment, communication, and counselling skills Ability to work autonomously while influencing practice across teams and services A compassionate, relationship‑centred approach aligned with Belong’s values Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use Desirable Post‑registration qualification in dementia or older people’s mental health Degree or Master’s level qualification related to dementia care Experience of clinical supervision, practice development, audit, or research Teaching, mentoring, or presentation experience What We Offer Competitive salary of £50,830 The opportunity to work within a nationally recognised Admiral Nursing model Ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and support from Dementia UK A values‑led organisation focused on quality, relationships, and innovation The chance to make a meaningful difference to families living with dementia
