Do you have a passion for supporting young people with SEND and ensuring they have the very best start to their college journey?
We're looking for a dedicated SEND Admissions & Transitions Officer to join our Inclusive Learning team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in shaping the experience of learners with SEND, ensuring they receive personalised support from their first interaction with the College through to successful transition into learning, employment or higher education.
Working closely with students, families, schools, curriculum teams, the Local Authority and external agencies, you'll coordinate high-quality admissions and transition programmes that reduce barriers to learning, promote independence and enable every learner to thrive.
What you'll do:
- Coordinate the admissions and transition process for learners with SEND, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Work closely with schools, parents, carers, the Local Authority and external agencies to gather information and develop personalised transition programmes.
- Organise and deliver transition activities, including open events, visits, virtual sessions and summer engagement programmes.
- Coordinate Initial Needs Assessments and ensure learners receive tailored support from the outset of their College journey.
- Support the admissions and enrolment process, ensuring it is accessible, inclusive and responsive to individual learner needs.
- Develop strong working relationships with curriculum teams to embed inclusive practice and effective support strategies across the College.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues, employers and stakeholders on reasonable adjustments and inclusive learning environments.
- Monitor learner progress, retention and successful transitions using both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Attend EHCP reviews and transition meetings, ensuring documentation is completed accurately and within statutory timescales.
- Contribute to the development of staff training, new initiatives and resources that enhance inclusive practice across the College.

What we're looking for:
- Four GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English and Maths, with evidence of Level 2 English and Maths qualifications.
- Experience supporting young people with SEND and a strong understanding of the barriers they may face.
- A working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2014), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and inclusive practice.
- Experience developing personalised support or transition programmes.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with learners, families, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- A professional or SEND-related qualification, or a willingness to achieve one within the first year of employment.
- A Level 5 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification, or a willingness to work towards this.
- A flexible, innovative and learner-centred approach with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for students with SEND.
