Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop communication skills by engaging with clients, learning about their backgrounds, interests and individual care needs.
- Learn to support personal care, including washing, dressing and promoting dignity and independence.
- Build practical skills in preparing meals, assisting with eating and supporting safe medication routines under supervision.
- Support clients to participate in physical, social and wellbeing activities as part of their care plan.
- Be trained to carry out routine health checks such as weight, temperature and blood pressure monitoring.
- Learn how to recognise and report any concerns about a client’s health or wellbeing to senior staff.
- Develop confidence in maintaining accurate care records and updating individual care plans in line with guidance.

Requirements
- Passing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Be a UK resident or living in the UK or EU for the last three years for apprenticeship eligibility.
