About Hampshire Achieves Hampshire Achieves is part of the Participation and Lifelong Learning service within our Children’s Services Directorate. We deliver high-quality Adult Skills and Young People’s Learning provision, supporting individuals to gain essential skills, improve confidence, and achieve positive outcomes for their future.

Join our service as an experienced Adult Skills Tutor, delivering engaging and impactful learning experiences for adults aged 19+ through both online and face-to-face delivery. Tutors are required across various subject areas, including:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
  • Digital Skills
  • Employability
  • Family Learning

About the Role

As an Adult Skills Tutor, your role is critical:

  • Plan and deliver flexible, tailored teaching sessions (both accredited and non-accredited) to meet learner, community, and employer needs.
  • Assess and monitor learner progress, ensuring timely support and progression opportunities.
  • Develop high-quality learning resources, including digital materials, for diverse learner needs.
  • Foster inclusive learning environments by addressing SEND, mental health needs, or learners with English as an additional language.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and comply with:
    • Quality assurance & assessment policies
    • Health and safety regulations
    • Safeguarding requirements (including Prevent, British Values, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion).
  • Participate in supervision and performance management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and team collaboration in a safe, accessible, and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality education across Adult Skills (ESOL, Digital, Employability, Family Learning).
  • Adapt teaching approaches to support flexible learning models.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and employers to align learning with real-world needs.
  • Upskill and professionally develop within Hampshire Achieves’ supportive team.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Certifications

  • A teaching qualification (Level 3+) and subject-specific qualification (Level 4+).
  • English and Maths at Level 2+.
  • Strong knowledge of education regulations and OFSTED inspection requirements.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience delivering adult education in Further Education or community settings.
  • Proven ability in supporting vulnerable learners, including those with SEND or mental health needs.
  • Exceptional organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident use of digital technologies for teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid model – blend of home working, office-based, and community delivery.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends for certain commitments.
  • Flexibility to meet travel requirements across locations.
