Adults & Communities (Promoting Independence)

Role: Qualified Social Worker (Grades 9-11)
Service: Promoting Independence
Location: Leicestershire County Council
Pay Rate: £34.00 per hour
Contract: Full-Time

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Adults & Communities department. Operating within the Promoting Independence and Personal Care & Support teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Person-Centred Assessments & Support Planning: Supporting citizens to self-assess their risks and outcomes, determining personal budgets, and designing cost-effective, mutually agreed support plans.
  • Complex Case Coordination: Acting as care coordinator for high-risk, complex cases involving trauma, difficult life circumstances, or specific specialist needs.
  • Statutory Frameworks & Safeguarding: Investigating and managing high-risk situations involving adult safeguarding, Mental Capacity Assessments, and Continuing Healthcare (CHC).
  • Promoting Independence & Asset-Based Support: Maximising natural support networks, community resources, universal services, and Direct Payments.
  • Multidisciplinary Working: Partnering effectively with health colleagues, local providers, emergency services, and voluntary agencies to deliver integrated support and facilitate hospital discharges.

Mandatory Candidate Criteria

  • Professional Qualification: Recognized Degree in Social Work, CQSW, or DipSW.
  • Professional Registration: Active, valid registration with Social Work England (or HCPC equivalent).
  • Vetting: Must hold an Enhanced DBS check (cleared for regulated activity).
  • Statutory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, personalisation, and safeguarding policies.
