About the Role

The Northern Care Alliance Microbiology service is currently delivered from two main laboratories situated at The Royal Oldham and Salford Royal Hospital sites. The Royal Oldham site provides services for Bury, Rochdale and Oldham and the surrounding GPs; the laboratory at Salford Royal also provides Microbiology services for The Christie under a Service Level Agreement and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust as part of a joint venture (Pathology at Wigan and Salford – PAWS). The formation of the Northern Care Alliance has led to us transforming service delivery for our patients and Microbiology is actively working towards planning a single service model in the near future.

The opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our team and actively participate in shaping the future of service delivery for Microbiology in these exciting and challenging times. This post will be initially sited in the Oldham Royal laboratory but applicants should be aware that this may change as part of the transformation agenda.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
