Advance Practitioner – Gastrointestinal Medicine

Working within Gastrointestinal Medicine, the successful candidate will demonstrate autonomy in their practice, fulfilling advanced competency standards required by the Trust. D duties will include:
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Practice & Expertise
- Exercise advanced clinical judgement and decision-making in a complex GI medicine setting.
- Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with GI conditions.
- Analyze complex clinical scenarios, synthesizing evidence, policy, and patient need to inform care decisions.

Clinical Leadership & Improvement
- Lead and supervise the practice of other health professionals, fostering continuous improvement.
- Conduct and implement clinical audit and evidence-based practice.
- Teach and mentor colleagues through structured education, devising and delivering learning programmes.
- Champion a culture of professional excellence, embracing escalation pathways and peer reviews where required.

Research & Innovation
- Actively contribute to research and audit activities, leading implementation of findings in clinical practice.
- Facilitate the development of practice built on a robust evidence base, communicating findings to MDT colleagues.
- Lead research projects aligned with service priorities, ensuring ethical governance and compliance.

Clinical Governance
- Operate within clinical governance frameworks, leading in audit and research.
- Review, design, and implement policies and guidelines to ensure effective and compliant service provision.
- Manage complex, sensitive, or contentious information with discretion.
