Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Advance Practitioner – Gastrointestinal Medicine

Location: Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) | Campus: Oxford Road Campus

Working within Gastrointestinal Medicine, the successful candidate will demonstrate autonomy in their practice, fulfilling advanced competency standards required by the Trust. D duties will include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice & Expertise
    • Exercise advanced clinical judgement and decision-making in a complex GI medicine setting.
    • Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with GI conditions.
    • Analyze complex clinical scenarios, synthesizing evidence, policy, and patient need to inform care decisions.

  • Clinical Leadership & Improvement

    • Lead and supervise the practice of other health professionals, fostering continuous improvement.
    • Conduct and implement clinical audit and evidence-based practice.
    • Teach and mentor colleagues through structured education, devising and delivering learning programmes.
    • Champion a culture of professional excellence, embracing escalation pathways and peer reviews where required.
  • Research & Innovation

    • Actively contribute to research and audit activities, leading implementation of findings in clinical practice.
    • Facilitate the development of practice built on a robust evidence base, communicating findings to MDT colleagues.
    • Lead research projects aligned with service priorities, ensuring ethical governance and compliance.
  • Clinical Governance

    • Operate within clinical governance frameworks, leading in audit and research.
    • Review, design, and implement policies and guidelines to ensure effective and compliant service provision.
    • Manage complex, sensitive, or contentious information with discretion.
