About the Role
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Breast Consultant Oncology teams, amidst continued investment in our Oncology services.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in an outpatient setting, while working alongside the Oncology Day Units to ensure excellence in SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) and Oncology care.
The Role
The postholder will operate at Master’s level across the four pillars of advanced practice:
- Expert clinical practice in SACT/acute oncology management
- Leadership within the oncology/SACT speciality, with a focus on influencing service development and reducing variations in patient care
- Education and training, providing support to colleagues across teams
- Quality improvement and research, driving innovation and supporting the delivery of the NHS Cancer Plan, alongside the Non-Surgical Oncology agenda
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will collaborate closely with Breast Consultant Oncologists (based in Newcastle, operating within a hub-and-spoke model) and clinical/MDT teams, playing a crucial role in the non-surgical oncology agenda. This ensures safe, effective care pathways for patients receiving SACT.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
