We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner team at HMP Onley, a category C Prison located in Rugby. Working across 2 sites (2 days at HMP Rye Hill, 3 days at HMP Onley).
HMP Onley has a population of 980 males.
Role Essentials
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner must hold:
- (RCGP) Part 1 & Part 2 certification in Substance Misuse (advanced knowledge & clinical competence in managing drug and alcohol dependence)
- Independent prescriber status, with confidence in delivering evidence-based pharmacological interventions across substance misuse and co-occurring mental health conditions

Working Hours
37.5 hours per week
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: HMP Onley (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Tuesday & Thursday: HMP Rye Hill (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Salary
- Full-time position with a salary range of £59,677 - £66,792 per annum (depending on experience, FTE).

Key Responsibilities
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you’ll:
- Demonstrate clinical judgement in assessing and managing complex patient health issues.
- Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team—comprising multidisciplinary registered and non-registered professionals (e.g., mental health & substance misuse practitioners).
- Act as a professional role model, ensuring maintaining standardised appearance and behaviour.
- Work with senior clinicians on-site as part of the daily leadership team, contributing clinical expertise for patient-focused decisions.
- Ensure optimal patient safety, effective case management, and adherence to up-to-date treatment methodologies.
- Collaborate with the team to refine clinical practices and improve patient outcomes.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (NMC), specialising in Adult or Mental Health
- Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification (Essential)
- RSCP Part 1 & 2 certification (Essential)
- Experience in substance misuse prescribing (Essential)
- An MSc in Advanced Practice
- Background in advanced practice with ability to work autonomously, aligned with best practice standards
Preferred (but not essential):
- Experience in hospitals, community or prison healthcare settings
