Full-time Advanced Endoscopy Training Fellow with a responsibility in Endoscopy for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post will be based across NUH campuses or our partner outsourcing units and is designed to acquire specialist advanced endoscopy training and support the activities of the endoscopy and gastroenterology department. The post-holder will work alongside a variety of consultant gastroenterologists and GI surgeons and will be responsible to the clinical leads in endoscopy and gastroenterology.
This is a one-year post specifically intended for registrars approaching their CCST or immediate post CCST wishing to expand their endoscopy and research experience. Opportunities include training in therapeutic and advanced colonoscopy (e.g. advanced EMR, ESD exposure), enteroscopy, ERCP (including advanced imaging and therapeutics, e.g. cholangioscopy), EUS (including interventional EUS), Barrett’s endotherapy, upper GI endoscopic resection and as such is most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology.

Clinical & Service Delivery
- Independently perform diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy (including clinics)
- Provide flexible cover for endoscopy lists, clinics, and inpatient procedures
- Undertake triage and referral vetting
- Potentially carry out capsule endoscopy reporting (depending on experience)
Multidisciplinary Working
- Attend and present at weekly MDT meetings
- Collaborate with radiology, surgery, pathology, oncology, and palliative care teams
Operational Support
- Work closely with the operations, nursing, and admin teams to ensure smooth daily running
- Support referral management and service coordination
Audit, Governance & Research
- Lead and contribute to clinical audits (JAG/GRS)
- Support clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
- Develop guidelines and monitor quality indicators (e.g. procedure appropriateness, sedation, patient experience)
- Participate in research activities (with GCP certification)
Training & Teaching
- Provide teaching and training to junior doctors and clinical endoscopists
- Engage in ongoing professional development under an educational supervisor

Administrative & Supporting Duties
- Complete patient/service-related administrative work
- Contribute to audit/research sessions
