About the Role
We are seeking a self-starting individual with a passion for the fast-paced and dynamic bus industry. This Advanced Engineer (HGV/PSV Technician Level 3) role offers the perfect opportunity to join us at Transport UK London Bus.
This position operates on a 4 nights on, 4 nights off schedule, giving you extensive time off over half the year. Elective voluntary overtime is available to further increase earnings, while 5-day shifts can also be arranged.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining buses.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electronic malfunctions.
- Recording issues and repairs using a tablet.
- Adhering to safety protocols and promptly reporting concerns.
Requirements & Skills
Qualifications & Experience
✔ Hold (or be willing to obtain) an NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in public service vehicle (PSV) or heavy goods vehicle (HGV) maintenance and repair—equivalent international qualifications are also acceptable.

✔ IRTEC certification (In-Service Maintenance Technician, Inspection Technician, Advanced Technician) preferred—but training will be provided if required.
✔ PCV licence desirable but not mandatory; if needed, training in bus driving will be offered by the employer.
✔ Demonstrated proficiency in Maths and English.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
✔ Ability to interpret instructions, manuals, and service documentation. ✔ Familiarity with fleet management computer systems. ✔ Interest in troubleshooting and applying hands-on technical solutions.
Attitudinal & Professional Traits
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to adapt—flexibility with deadlines and shifts may be required (including depot relocations).
- Training mindset—must accept any necessary professional development under the Service Manager.
- High self-initiative, safety consciousness, and problem-solving prowess.
