Job Summary

Are you interested in working in a Healthcare setting & contributing to improving patient care with the effective use of technology?

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Clinical Engineering and Measurement Group within the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Managing devices across the equipment libraries on all 4 sites. The successful applicant will be involved with medical device goods in receipting and stock ordering, delivery of medical devices to clinical areas. The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with technical and clinical internal staff, and external contacts. With a focus on adding value, the role contributes to the efficiency of an organisation through the support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. Typical day to day tasks would include using IT systems and databases, learning to manage administrative services, and developing project management skills.

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to participate in a structured program of training which will include on the job experience, external training courses and completion of a Level 3 Healthcare Businesses Administrator apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

  • Managing devices across the equipment libraries and supporting the technical team with administrative functions.
  • Delivery and collection of medical devices to and from clinical areas.
  • Adding information into our database.
  • Being involved with medical device goods-in.
  • Receipting new medical devices into the Trust.
  • Stock ordering.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be organised, have a high regard to detail & be able to concentrate for long periods. The role does involve a high degree of manual handling.

Job Description

Job responsibilities

  • Acquire clinical and technical knowledge in the field of Clinical Engineering.
  • Complete a 18 month apprenticeship program alongside workplace training and competency completion.
  • To respond to telephone requests promptly. May be required to deal with sensitive/confidential information. The post holder may be required to work in any of the Trusts Clinical Engineering areas.
  • To work within guidelines and policies laid down by OUH NHS Trust.
  • To undertake any relevant training in order to provide knowledgeable, but basic advice regarding equipment.
  • To maintain accurate records of work undertaken.
  • To collect and deliver equipment to clinical areas promptly upon request.
  • To provide additional technical & administrative support to the Clinical Engineering Group.
  • To work & participate as part of a team as well as independently.

  • 4 GCSE or equivalent English Math grade 4 or above
