Position Overview

The AME IDEA Manager – Execution supports the delivery of regional automation projects across EU & Africa JIT, Trim, and Structures plants, ensuring execution aligns with Lear’s AME Roadmap.

Reporting to: Senior AME Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise (SME) in project execution planning, risk management, budgeting, supplier liaison, and timeline oversight.
  • Ensures automation solutions meet Lear standards with minimal operational disruption.

Main Missions

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional teams (plant staff, central functions, supplier reps, program managers) for IDEA (Industrial Development & Innovation Excellence) projects in assigned plants.
  • Monitor progress, identify delays, and communicate risks to AME, Plant IE Manager, and Plant Manager.
  • Collaborate closely with Leadership teams (Central AME, Operations, Program Management).

Technical & Process Improvement

  • Partner with Lear’s internal integrator (WIP & CoE Equipment team) to refine Lear Bond Technology standards, improvements, and optimisations.

Solution Development & Strategic Planning

  • Identify automated solutions suitable for JIT (Just-In-Time) environments.
  • Develop robust technical/cost-based business cases for senior management presentations.

Knowledge Sharing & Compliance

  • Share lessons learned/best practices across AME teams to transfer knowledge globally.
  • Coach regional team members in technical expertise within your domain.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, health/safety policies, and local procedures.

Strategic Oversight & Support

  • Participate in feasibility discussions with stakeholders on project strategic alignment, costs, and timelines.
  • Provide status reports on AME tasks, IDEA projects, risks, and compliance-related updates to Operations.
  • Supervise AME activities & IDEA project execution in assigned plants.

Reporting Structure:

  • Primary reporting: Senior AME Manager
  • Dotted-line reporting: Responsible Plant Manager / IE Manager

Key Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Program management experience (essential).
  • Proven background in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Expertise in at least one area: welding, maintenance, robotics, automation, end-of-line (EOL) systems, or project management.
  • Experience in implementing multiple advanced manufacturing projects into operational environments.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess business cases linked to ROI (Return on Investment) critically.
  • Technical understanding of ergonomic requirements and solution-proposing skills.
  • Full proficiency in Lear’s AME Controls/IT systems.
  • Expert-level Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel (role requirement).
  • Commitment to HSE compliance and safe working practices.

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience deploying AME projects across multiple countries/facilities.
  • Knowledge of CE certification requirements.
  • Active use of AI solutions in professional environments.
  • Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
  • +5 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Fluent English (spoken/written).
