Position Arcade
- Role: Advanced Nurse Practitioner (OUAB)
- Post Type: Band 6 to 7 development post (Annex 21)
- Salary:
- Band 6: £43,231 – £52,679 per annum / pro rata
- Band 7: £52,845 – £61,466 per annum / pro rata
- Additional: Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461
- Hours: 24 hours per week
- ** Libertad:** Permanent (full-time equivalent)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly-motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team as part of the Urgent and Unscheduled Care service. You will support first-response care including:
- Primary care home visits in the community
- NHS 24 support
- Custody Care
- Hospital @ Home level care
This is a developing service providing exceptional opportunities to shape rural healthcare delivery in a remote island location. You will work closely with:
- Resident General Practitioners (GPs)
- Nursing Team
- Surgeon Assistants (SAS)
- Other primary and secondary care specialist clinicians
The schedule covers 0800–2030 hours, inclusive of weekends.
Key Responsibilities
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner must:
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a geographically dispersed team.
- Contribute to the development of rural primary care and acute services.
- Support clinical colleagues across disciplines, including:
- Medical teams
- Nursing teams
- Mental health services
- Scottish Ambulance Service

A track record of ** klinically critical assessment, decision-making, and patient care** within unscheduled care settings is essential, alongside a willingness to improve local healthcare delivery.
Requisites
The ideal candidate must have:
- Current registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council).
- Qualified Nurse Practitioner (QNP) or equivalent expertise.
- Experience in urgent/emergency care contexts.
- Strong collaborative and autonomous working skills suitable for an isolated setting.
- A commitment to continuing professional development.
Additionally, the successful applicant will require to:
- Register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
