We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Medicines Management Technician to join our friendly team and develop the pharmacy service in our Cancer Centre. The role will allow you to use your experience to develop clinic-based pharmacy services, as well as providing opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in a specialist area.
You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to provide quality care for a range of oncology and haematology patients. Teamwork is essential to this role, as is the need to demonstrate initiative. A desire to go the extra mile for patients is central to the ethos of our team, so you will have a caring approach and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The Role Includes
- Supply of IV and oral chemotherapy and supplementary medicines
- Accuracy checking of items against clinically checked prescriptions
- Building patient partnerships to ensure medicines are taken as prescribed and to educate and counsel patients and carers on the safe and proper use of medicines.
- Undertake medication review of patients admitted to general haematology/oncology wards
- Working quickly and accurately under pressure

Full training will be provided in-house and your ongoing learning and development in this role is supported and encouraged.
To assist the Chief Pharmacist in providing comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management by the provision of safe, appropriate and effective clinical pharmacy services within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, and areas supplied under Service Level Agreements, ensuring compliance with current medicines legislation.
To dispense and supply IV and oral chemotherapy and supplementary medicines.

To act as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) to final check medicines before issuing to wards and patients.
To ensure the effectiveness of the technical aspects of the medicines management service and the safe and accurate dispensing of prescriptions.
To implement and maintain efficient medicines management systems and ensure economic use of medicines in the haematology/oncology day unit.
