Advanced Specialist Aseptic Services Pharmacist
Exciting Opportunity: Aseptic Services Pharmacist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust
At The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, we welcome an experienced pharmacist with a passion for aseptic services to join our cutting-edge team. This role presents a dynamic opportunity during a pivotal development phase in our high-performing aseptic unit.
The unit supports:
- Phase I clinical trials
- Gene therapy programmes
- Early Access Medicines
- Compassionate use initiatives
Operating across two cleanrooms, including a dedicated gene therapy facility, our five negative pressure isolators enable precision in the preparation of life-saving treatments. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will help ensure patients receive timely access to the latest oncology and haematology therapies, bridging gaps between clinical care and research.
About the Role

Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Support
- Lead and contribute to aseptic preparation under the Section 10 exemption of the Medicines Act 1968, ensuring safe, compliant clinical trial product Handling.
- Act as Accountable Pharmacist, overseeing the preparation and release of oncology and haematology medicines in line with regulatory requirements.

Strategic Development
- Support the strategic evolution of aseptic services through service evaluation, data analysis, and horizon scanning.
- Engage in the planning, design, and commissioning of new aseptic facilities, including upgrades to existing systems.
Team & Quality Leadership
- Provide line management for designated staff, fostering a culture of positive teamwork, flexibility, and high performance.
- Ensure staff competency assessment in line with national and regional standards.
- Maintain a efficient, responsive service, prioritising workload during capacity constraints and collaborating with clinical and operational teams.
Quality Assurance & Research
- Support the ongoing development of the Quality Management System, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate innovation in aseptic services, including support for clinical trials and collaborative research projects.
