Advanced Specialist, Events

Description

Pearson is seeking an experienced Advanced Specialist, Events to support the planning and delivery of high-impact internal sales kick-off events, national sales meetings, leadership conferences, and commercial enablement programmes. This role will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Enablement, Communications, Operations teams, external agencies, and senior stakeholders to deliver engaging events that align teams, strengthen sales performance, and create an exceptional attendee experience.

This role is aligned to other titles in the market such as Event Manager, Sales Conference Manager, Internal Events Manager, Corporate Events Manager, Meeting & Events Manager, Event Project Manager, or Sales Enablement Events Manager.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Plan and deliver internal sales kick-off events, leadership meetings, sales conferences, and related enablement programmes.
  • Manage end-to-end event workstreams including project plans, timelines, budgets, registration, communications, agendas, speakers, production requirements, rooming lists, food and beverage planning, signage, and onsite logistics.
  • Partner with external agencies and vendors to ensure consistent delivery, cost control, and a high-quality attendee experience.
  • Coordinate planning meetings, maintain project documentation, track actions, and keep stakeholders updated on progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Support sales leaders and enablement teams in delivering events that reinforce commercial priorities, product knowledge, and employee engagement.
  • Manage attendee registration, communications, event platforms, mobile apps, check-in processes, surveys, and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Track budgets, invoices, purchase orders, and event reconciliations in partnership with Finance, Procurement, and event suppliers.
  • Create run-of-show documents, staffing plans, briefing materials, and contingency plans for successful onsite delivery.
  • Resolve logistical, technology, vendor, and attendee issues during the event lifecycle.
  • Capture post-event feedback, attendance data, engagement metrics, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience within event management, conference management, internal meetings, sales events, or corporate event programmes.
  • Experience managing in-person, virtual, and hybrid events involving multiple stakeholders and complex logistics.
  • Strong project management capabilities with experience managing timelines, dependencies, vendors, budgets, and competing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders, marketing teams, enablement functions, agencies, vendors, and external partners.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions during live event delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience using event technology platforms, registration systems, communications tools, project management software, or CRM systems would be advantageous.
  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Event Management, Business, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent experience will also be considered.

  • Internal sales kick-off events are delivered on time, within budget, and to a consistently high standard.
  • Stakeholders receive clear communication and understand their responsibilities throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Vendors and agency partners operate effectively within agreed scopes, timelines, and service expectations.
  • Event planning processes are documented, repeatable, and continuously improved.
  • Attendee feedback demonstrates a positive and engaging experience, with insights used to improve future programmes.

Location & Working Model

This role may be remote or office-based, depending on location, and will require travel for planning meetings, site visits, event delivery, and post-event reviews. The position operates within a highly collaborative matrix environment and works closely with both internal stakeholders and external event agencies.
