About the Role
Suffolk New College is seeking an Advice and Guidance Assistant (on-site) to join the Student Services Directorate, working within Learning Curves (learning resource and study centres) across our Ipswich and Suffolk Rural campuses.
Reporting to and supported by the Advice, Guidance and Welfare Coordinator, this role sits within the Advice, Guidance and Welfare Team and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the College’s Learning Curve facilities.
The Advice and Guidance Assistant will provide careers information, advice and guidance (CIAG) to learners, enhancing their achievement, success, progression, and future employability. As a dedicated, learner-focused individual, ideally with experience working with young people, you will need to be organised, self-motivated, able to work independently, and committed to supporting young learners in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Providing careers advice and guidance to learners
- Supporting students in their academic and personal development
- Assisting in the management of Learning Curve facilities
- Ensuring a learner-friendly and engaging environment
- Working across both Ipswich and Suffolk Rural campuses (periodic travel to Halesworth and Leiston may be required)
- Adhering to college values under the BeSNC culture for an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements:
- GCSEs: At least a Grade C/4 in both English and Mathematics (or an equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Qualification: A Level 3 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance (or equivalent) – if not currently held, experience working towards a Level 4 C&G qualification should be demonstrated
- Practical experience of working with young learners in an advice, guidance, or welfare setting
