A&E Coding Team Role – Wansbeck General Hospital

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated team player to join our existing A&E Coding Team.
This role involves working to strict deadlines to provide an A&E coding service across our entire Trust, including:
- Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital
- Wansbeck General Hospital
- North Tyneside General Hospital
- Hexham General Hospital
- Alnwick Infirmary
- Berwick Infirmary
- Haltwhistle War Memorial Hospital
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for:
- Abstracting and analysing clinical information from a variety of electronic systems
- Translating clinical data accurately into diagnostic codes, investigations, and treatments
- Entering patient data accurately and timely onto the Trust’s ECS system
- Dealing with day-to-day enquiries
- Liaising with clinical and administrative staff at various levels

Person Specification
Essential
- Educated to GCSE standard
- Strong communication skills
- Effective keyboard skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Proficiency in working to tight deadlines
Desirable
- Experience in A&E coding or similar clinical coding roles
- Familiarity with systems such as:
- PAS (Patient Administration System)
- ICE (Integrated Clinical Environment)
- Nerve Centre
- Clinical Noting
- Mediviewer
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Medical Terminology
Support & Training
- Full support and continuous training will be provided as required
