Affordable Housing Associate

Location: Leeds

Job Type: Full-time | Hybrid Working Available

Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE + Discretionary Bonus

The Opportunity

A Top 100 national law firm is looking to recruit an Associate to join its expanding Affordable Housing Property team in Leeds.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a specialist practice advising registered providers and housing associations on a broad range of affordable housing, commercial property, development, and asset management matters.

The vacancy has arisen following the departure of a valued team member who has chosen to pursue a different career direction, providing an excellent opening for an ambitious property lawyer to join a well-established and highly regarded team.

Working alongside experienced Partners and senior colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to manage your own matters while contributing to the continued success and growth of the department.

The Role

You'll be responsible for handling a varied caseload of commercial property and asset management work, while also supporting on larger affordable housing and development projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing commercial property and asset management matters for registered providers and housing associations.
  • Advising on acquisitions, disposals, and development transactions.
  • Assisting with site acquisitions and development projects for regional and national housing providers.
  • Supporting large portfolio transactions.
  • Drafting and negotiating leases, transfers, conditional contracts, and development agreements.
  • Preparing reports on title and certificates of title for lenders.
  • Building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Working closely with colleagues across a range of legal disciplines.
  • Supervising and mentoring paralegals within the team.
  • Taking part in business development, networking, and internal training initiatives.

About You

The firm is keen to hear from:

  • Qualified Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives or equivalent with 4+ years' PQE.
  • Lawyers with experience in Affordable Housing, Commercial Property, Real Estate, or a combination of residential and commercial property work.
  • Candidates with strong experience handling acquisitions and disposals.
  • Individuals confident drafting and negotiating commercial leases, lease renewals, licences, and surrenders.
  • Professionals with excellent client relationship and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiators with excellent drafting and analytical ability.
  • Commercially minded lawyers who can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
