Affordable Housing Associate Location: Leeds Job Type: Full-time | Hybrid Working Available Salary: Up to £65,000 DOE + Discretionary Bonus
The Opportunity A highly regarded top 100 national law firm is looking to appoint an Associate to join its growing Affordable Housing Property team in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist team acting for a wide range of registered providers and housing associations on a varied mix of affordable housing, commercial property, asset management and development matters.
The role has arisen due to the departure of a well-regarded team member pursuing an alternative career path, creating an opportunity for an ambitious property lawyer to join an established and supportive team with a strong reputation in the sector.
You will work closely with experienced Partners and senior lawyers while managing your own caseload and playing an active role in the continued growth of the team.
The Role You will manage a diverse caseload of commercial property and asset management matters while supporting on larger affordable housing and development transactions.
Key responsibilities include: Managing a varied caseload of commercial property and asset management work for registered providers Advising on acquisitions, disposals and development transactions Supporting on site acquisitions and development projects for regional and national housing providers Assisting with large-scale portfolio transactions Drafting and negotiating leases, transfers, development agreements and conditional contracts Preparing reports on title and certificates of title for lenders Building and maintaining strong client relationships Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple practice areas Supervising and supporting paralegals within the team Contributing to networking, business development and training initiatives

Candidate Requirements The firm is seeking: Qualified Solicitors, Legal Executives or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years' PQE Experience in affordable housing, commercial property, real estate, or a combination of residential and commercial property work Strong experience handling acquisitions and disposals Experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases, renewals, surrenders and licences Excellent client management and communication skills Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities A proactive and commercially aware approach The ability to manage a busy caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team
Desirable experience includes: Acting for registered providers or housing associations Development and regeneration work Asset management experience Supervisory or mentoring experience
