SMT is a leading full-service distribution company specializing in machinery and trucks. Our focus is on providing equipment for the construction, material handling, recycling, and transport industry. Launched in 2010, we have already obtained significant heritage that dates back to 1946, thanks to acquisitions. Our mix of agility and international experience gives us the advantage of a synergetic environment. We are active in large parts of Africa, Belgium & Luxembourg, in Great Britain, the Netherlands and in the US. We hold a longstanding track record of working exclusively with global quality brands like Volvo Construction Equipment, Sennebogen and Holms in our markets. In Africa and in the US, we also work with other A-brands and quality trucks. That makes it easier to set our standards and goals as high as we do.

Job Title: Aftermarket Business Analyst (Construction)

Location: Duxford, Cambridgeshire

Contract: Full time, Permanent

About the role

We are looking for an Aftermarket Business Analyst to join our team at Duxford, playing a key role in maximising the revenue and profitability of our aftermarket parts and service offering. This is not a traditional reporting-led Business Analyst role and requires someone comfortable operating in a hands-on, commercially accountable environment. Instead, you will act as a commercially focused partner to the business—using data, market insight and financial understanding to identify opportunities, influence decisions, and drive measurable improvements in performance.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Sales, Service and Finance, you will take ownership of analysing margin performance, identifying areas of opportunity, and shaping initiatives that enhance our aftermarket offering. This role requires someone with the confidence and credibility to challenge, influence and operate at pace within a complex, operational environment. A strong understanding of the construction, heavy plant, or a closely related industry—and its aftermarket dynamics—is essential to succeed in this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Play a central role in analysing performance, shaping strategy, and driving aftermarket initiatives across the business.
  • Monitor and analyse parts, labour and CSA performance, identifying trends, risks and areas of margin erosion.
  • Identify opportunities to grow parts and service revenue, developing targeted strategies to unlock untapped potential.
  • Carry out competitor and pricing analysis to strengthen commercial positioning and protect profitability.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and KPIs to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead or contribute to aftermarket projects, including new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Take ownership of key systems, pricing processes and modelling tools that underpin aftermarket performance.
  • Act as a key contact for aftermarket campaigns and external insights, working with stakeholders to maximise impact and market share.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

You will be a commercially minded and highly analytical individual who enjoys working at the intersection of data, finance and operational performance. You bring credibility and gravitas, with the confidence to engage, challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business. • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into clear, commercially focused recommendations.
  • Good financial understanding, with the ability to interpret margin, revenue and profitability drivers (studying towards or educated to degree level in a relevant discipline).
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting or BI tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • A self-starter with a structured, systematic approach and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of aftermarket parts and service operations, including pricing and margin management (essential).
