About the Role
The Aftersales Business Development Executive is responsible for driving profitable growth across the aftersales operation, with a primary emphasis on trade and workshop parts sales, alongside supporting workshop labour sales growth. This role focuses on developing new trade parts business, increasing customer retention, expanding account penetration, and supporting both retail and workshop channel parts growth through strategic commercial initiatives and engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Proactively identify, develop, and grow trade parts sales across Mercedes-Benz franchise brands by building strong relationships with:
- Independent garages
- Bodyshops
- Fleet operators
- Local business customers

Drive workshop parts sales in collaboration with:
- Site Parts Advisors
- Service Advisors
- Technicians
- Site Aftersales Manager

Develop targeted sales strategies to:
- Win new trade accounts
- Reactivate dormant accounts
- Increase turnover from existing trade customers for genuine Mercedes-Benz parts and approved product lines

Manage regular customer contact through:
- Telephone prospecting
- Customer visits
- Follow-up activity
- Local market engagement

Promote parts offers, campaigns, seasonal opportunities, and value-added propositions to boost parts sales performance against franchise objectives

Monitor and recover lost parts sales, quotation conversion, and customer buying patterns

Support workshop labour sales growth through engagement with the Site Aftersales Manager and service team, focusing on:
- Service retention
- Follow-up activities
- Aftersales campaigns

Collaborate with internal teams to align pricing, stock availability, service levels, and delivery performance with parts sales growth goals

Analyse sales performance, customer activity, and market opportunities to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities

Maintain accurate records of:
- Customer activity
- Prospecting efforts
- Account development
- Pipeline opportunities using internal systems

Represent the business professionally with excellent customer service and compliance with company/Mercedes-Benz franchise standards
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in trade parts turnover, margin, and customer account base
- Growth in workshop parts sales
- Number of new trade accounts opened, reactivated, and developed
- Improvement in parts quotation conversion and recovery of lost sales opportunities
- Increased customer retention and repeat parts business
- Growth in workshop labour sales tied to aftersales follow-up and service engagement
- Achievement of monthly and quarterly parts revenue objectives
- Customer satisfaction and service quality performance
Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Previous experience in the motor trade, ideally in:
- Parts
- Trade parts
- Aftersales sales development
- Commercially focused parts environments
- Experience with Mercedes-Benz or premium franchise advantagous
- Strong understanding of parts operations, customer pricing, and account development in a franchised dealer environment
- Commercially driven with a proven ability to identify and convert sales opportunities
- Workshop operations knowledge, particularly the link between service activity and parts sales
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated, target-driven, able to work independently while collaborating effectively
- Competent in:
- Dealer management systems
- CRM tools
- Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently following through on opportunities
- Full UK driving licence preferred
