SYR are proud to be representing a specialist boat builder renowned for designing and manufacturing premium custom-built vessels, including luxury superyacht tenders, high-performance rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) and bespoke leisure craft.
As the business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Aftersales Engineer to provide technical support throughout the ownership journey, ensuring our customers continue to receive the highest levels of service, reliability and product performance.
Role Overview
The Aftersales Engineer is responsible for supporting customers after vessel delivery, with a primary focus on commissioning, warranty management, fault diagnosis and repair coordination. Working closely with customers, dealers, suppliers and internal departments, you will ensure that every vessel continues to perform to the highest standards while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong diagnostic skills, excellent customer communication and a proactive approach to resolving engineering and product issues.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning & Vessel Handover
- Commission new vessels prior to customer delivery.
- Conduct system checks, testing and final inspections to ensure vessels meet company quality standards.
- Support customer handovers by providing technical guidance and familiarisation where required.
- Assist with sea trials and acceptance testing.
Warranty Management
- Manage warranty claims from initial notification through to resolution.
- Investigate warranty issues and determine root causes.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding warranty-covered components.
- Maintain accurate warranty records and technical reports.
- Ensure warranty work is completed efficiently while minimising customer downtime.
Repairs & Technical Support
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and systems faults across a range of bespoke vessels.
- Carry out repairs, servicing and modifications where required.
- Provide technical support to customers, dealers and service partners.
- Coordinate field service visits when necessary.
- Support urgent technical issues both remotely and on-site.

Aftersales Support
- Develop strong relationships with customers, ensuring a positive ownership experience.
- Respond promptly to technical enquiries.
- Produce service reports and technical documentation.
- Assist with spare parts identification and recommendations.
- Support continuous improvement by feeding customer and warranty information back to Engineering and Production teams.
Supplier & Internal Liaison
- Liaise with engine manufacturers, equipment suppliers and subcontractors.
- Work closely with Engineering and Production to resolve recurring issues.
- Support quality improvement initiatives through analysis of warranty trends.
- Assist in developing service procedures and technical documentation.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working with marine propulsion systems and vessel mechanical systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in commissioning, servicing or repairing marine vessels.
- Excellent understanding of marine electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally when required.
Desirable
- Experience within superyacht tenders, luxury yachts or high-performance RIBs.
- Knowledge of composite boat construction.
- Experience with Volvo Penta, Mercury, Yanmar, Cox Marine or similar propulsion systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and marine electronics.
- Experience managing warranty claims.
- Forklift, lifting or marine handling qualifications.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced marine engineer or service engineer with a background in superyacht tenders, luxury yachts, high-performance RIBs or specialist boatbuilding, who enjoys combining hands-on technical work with delivering exceptional customer service and long-term product support.
