Afterschool Club Assistant – Grove Vale Primary School
Grove Vale Primary School is seeking to appoint a hardworking and enthusiastic Afterschool Club Assistant in an excellent opportunity.
Role Overview
- Hours: 5 days per week, 10 hours per day (3:30pm – 5:30pm), term time-only contract
- Classification: Grade B, SCP 4
- Salary: £25,185 p.a. (Actual Salary £5,942 – £6,021 p.a.)
- Location: Grove Vale Primary, 16 Monksfield Ave, Birmingham B43 6AL
- Closing Date: Wednesday 8th July 2026 @ 12:00 noon
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe supervision of pupils within the afterschool club, including the following key duties:
- Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities in a safe and caring environment
- Provide comprehensive care for children, including the safe delivery and collection from parents/carers
- Set up the play area, including moving furniture and play equipment
- Ensure refreshments are provided and hygiene, health and safety standards are maintained
- Administer first aid when required
- Consult with children and involve them in planning activities
- Provide support for club administration, as needed
- Foster parental involvement in the club
- Maintain communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and the school
- Complete relevant training
- Ensure a healthy, safe, and secure work environment
- Work within the club’s policies and procedures

Requirements
- Must undergo all relevant safeguarding checks and provide an enhanced DBS check
- Note: The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Children’s Barring List Check
- Legally barred candidates must not apply
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
- Essential requirement: Speaking of fluent and fluent spoken English (covered under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016)
