Job Title: Accountant II Business Unit: Corporate – Littlehampton, UK Reports To: Senior Accountant


About the Role

Working through a recruitment agency, this temporary Accountant II role supports a company’s financial record-keeping and reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with US and other GAAP standards, corporate policies, and ethical guidelines. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who excels at multitasking in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical, organisational, problem-solving skills, and international business acumen.

Based at the European Regional Offices in Littlehampton, UK, this position is responsible for reviewing the financial condition and operational results of the company and providing data-driven insights for management.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Core Accountancy Functions

  • Oversee the General Ledger of assigned entities and manage Banking, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Revenue Recognition, Fixed Assets & Inter-company transactions.
  • Prepare and record complex journal entries, including:
    • Accruals calculations
    • Payroll accounting & reconciliations
    • Holiday accrual data preparation
    • Prepayments
    • Internal/external commission calculations
  • Participate in generating high-quality, accurate financial reconciliations (monthly) in alignment with corporate deadlines.

Compliance & Control

  • Act as a conduit between the global Shared Services Centre and regional teams/vendors.
  • Validate reasonableness of system-flagged transactions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions.
  • Uphold compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and corporate documentation.
  • Resolve accounting/transactional issues for sister companies, vendors and banks.

Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Develop, analyser and present management reports and financial information for stakeholders.
  • Assist in interpreting queries from internal/external auditors.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant and wider regional finance team under dynamic deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Standard office-based position with typical equipment use.
  • Dedicated communication required across Corporate, Business Unit, and Shared Services Finance.
  • Extended hours occasionally necessary to meet month-end reporting deadlines.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in English (written/spoken); German fluency (written/spoken) advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP/Blackline accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, comprehension of internal control environments, and familiarity with the Sarbannes-Oxley Act (SOX 404).
  • FP&A experience useful (e.g., forecasting and performance reporting).
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Background working for a US-led multinational within a manufacturing sector.
  • Accounting qualifications (Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA preferred).
