Agentic Tech Lead

Agentic Tech Lead – Openwork’s [Zero Friction Tribe] – Automation Centre of Excellence

The Opportunity We’re hiring an Agentic Tech Lead to drive a fundamentally new approach to automating and eliminating friction within Openwork. This pivotal Azure-native, Microsoft-first role sits within our [Openwork Partnership]’s [Zero Friction tribe]—the UK’s leading provider of "labs-first" automation principles.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity. You’ll ensure half of your time is dedicated to building cutting-edge solutions, while the other half involves mentoring engineers, building collaborations with technology ecosystems, and driving the Software Engineering Centre of Excellence. As a core member of Openwork’s leadership team, you’ll shape agentic AI in ways that reshape workflows using tools like Microsoft Foundry, Power Automate and AI Builder.

The Role

This innovative and high-impact role requires an expert who can stand at the intersection of ambition and pragmatism—someone who can deliver next-level production-grade systems underpinned by Microsoft’s design-by-details principles. You’ll be responsible for designing and shipping full-cycle AI and automation, mentoring the Zero Friction engineering team, and innovating the internal OW automation stack, shaping it to fit the company’s culture of agility.

You’ll be based in Swindon, with approximately three days in the office per week.

What Will You Be Doing?

This role carries clear ownership for a value-driven client deliverable while focusing on ideation, designs, shipping technical investigations and research leading to documentation. As our [Agentic Tech Lead], your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering full-cycle automation and AI solutions: Lead the end-to-end design and engineering aligned with customer requirements. From high-level requirements to full-solution deployment, focusing on quality, documentation, testing, security, and real delivery.
  • Refining and scaling Multi Agent Orchestration (MAO): Implementing flow-based architecture pattern development in Microsoft Foundry (e.g., agent APIs, workflows, and unified agent APIs).
  • Hands-on requirement-driven innovation: Leading complex feature development, AI system prototyping, software-reliant automation workflows (e.g., AI APIs, intelligent agents, complex Microsoft OneUI projects).
  • Leading Zero Friction technology and concept consolidation: Streamline andixo automation solutions to set the internal incubation mindset and technical excellence standard.
  • Shaping Zero Friction architectural processes: Improve our delivery workflows and shape new OW automation patterns and technological roadmap.
  • Culture of collaboration and guidance:
    • Leading technical direction and mentoring the Zero Friction engineering tribe.
    • Committing to a process that puts product vision and engineering excellence as top priorities.

Technical Areas (with which you’ll be fully conversant):

  • Intelligent Multi-Agent Systems: Experience building agent-based architecture solutions, including process orchestration, call-back flows, and intent-based actions.
  • Advanced Microsoft stack:
    • Microsoft Copilot Framework builder (Dev./Target apps)
    • Power Automate and Microsoft AI Builder
    • .NET developer background for custom endpoints and integrations
  • Intelligent document processing: Advanced knowledge and experience in form recognition (OCR), structured entity extraction and historical data processing.
  • Low-code and extensible composite systems:
    • Reusable component consumption/conversion, federation usage, Power Platform integrations, flow prototyping
    • Azure Data Factory, Service Bus, functions, key-vault, CSI/Logic Apps, Cognitive Services, AI forms, AI speech, AI content moderation
  • Edges Intelligence and efficiency:
    • Agent workflows, orchestration (LCM, SDKs, runbooks)
    • Intelligent agents in Microsoft Power Automate (self-generated flows)
  • Prompts and agent governance: Including system prompts, key word prompting, Chain of Thought (CoT) and other LLM prompting mechanisms.
  • Security-first mentality:
    • Migration governance and process controls, prompt injection/malicous action controls, and access controls
  • IT systems across banking ecosystems: Tracking, detecting and resolving anomalies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
