Role: Agricultural Engineering Lecturer

Reporting to: Assistant Curriculum Manager - Agricultural Engineering

Hours: up to full-time (37.5h per week)

Salary: Up to £35,496 plus industry enhancement (pro-rata for part-time)


Plumpton College is the leader of land and environment education in the Southeast, renowned for our outstanding cutting-edge practice and ability to align delivery to meet the needs of industry. Our Agricultural Engineering provision is in a period of significant growth as we develop new programmes to enable students to develop advanced technical skills and professional behaviours to meet needs of industry. Having launched a successful new Level 3 Agricultural Engineering programme this year, and with a Level 3 apprenticeship programme planned for launch later this year, supporting employers in agricultural, horticultural, land-based and plant engineering, we are now seeking to recruit a highly qualified Agricultural Engineering Lecturer on a permanent full-time or part-time basis.


Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver effective teaching, learning & assessment
  • Support agricultural engineering students, helping them to maximise their potential and make positive progress towards their timely success, future study, and employment
  • Inspire and motivate, through the application of your industry and technical expertise, making a significant contribution to the success of our vocational programmes and the future careers of our learners

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Degree or Level 3 qualified
  • Demonstrate up-to-date advanced technical knowledge and skills in agricultural, horticultural, or land-based machinery
  • Possess teaching experience and qualifications or have experience of working with apprentices or students within your workplace
  • A professional, hardworking, and confident team-player who is passionate about what you do

For those looking to start their teaching career, we welcome applications from new graduates. We deliver an in-house teacher training programme through which new teachers can achieve a recognised Level 4 - 6 teaching qualification.
