Solicitor or Associate – Agricultural Property Team

About the Role

We are seeking a Solicitor or Associate to join our Band 1 ranked Agricultural Property team based in our Romsey office.

This is an invaluable opportunity to:

  • Leverage your existing property experience while developing specialist knowledge in agricultural partnerships and trusts.
  • Work closely with a Senior Associate in a team supporting career progression through delegation, collaboration, and mentorship.

The role involves a varied caseload, including:

  • Handling agricultural and rural property transactions, such as:
    • Transfers of land/properties between family members, partnerships, companies, and trusts
    • Property work tied to partnership and LLP agreements for farming families and rural businesses
    • Succession planning and estate restructuring, including grazing licences and occupational arrangements
  • Managing overage, options, easements, and rights affecting rural land
  • Addressing SDLT, CGT, and IHT legal and tax considerations in rural transactions, collaborating with tax advisers

The role is full-time but flexible part-time applications are welcome. There may be opportunities to collaborate with fee-earners across our other offices.


About You

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with 2+ years’ Property experience (or >25 years’ PQE) (Note: Candidates with agricultural property experience will be prioritised, but Commercial or Residential Property experience is also considered.)
  • Demonstrate:
    • An interest in the agricultural sector and a willingness to develop specialist knowledge
    • Desire to build expertise in agricultural partnerships and trusts (experience not mandatory)
    • Strong communication skills to adapt to diverse clients and stakeholders
    • Organisational and IT skills, including experience with case management systems
