Job Description
Mitsubishi Power EMEA is seeking a motivated and ambitious AI and Machine Learning Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Master's graduate or someone completing their studies to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to solve real-world engineering challenges within the power generation industry.
Working alongside an experienced Principal Engineer, you will support the development and deployment of digital solutions that enhance the operation and maintenance of steam and gas turbines. You will gain hands-on experience working with engineering experts while contributing to innovative AI-driven projects that improve reliability, performance, and customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As an AI and Machine Learning Engineer, you will:
- Support the development of data-driven solutions for the operation and maintenance of steam and gas turbines.
- Assist the Engineering team in supporting Mitsubishi and former Hitachi Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Control Systems, and Auxiliary Equipment.
- Work alongside a Principal Engineer to develop and implement innovative digital engineering solutions.
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques to address practical engineering challenges and improve operational performance.
- Support the deployment and integration of established AI solutions across the organisation.
- Assist in root cause analysis and technical investigations for customer and operational issues.
- Respond to internal engineering support requests using sound engineering principles and analytical techniques.
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering procedures, reports, and project documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support unplanned or forced outage investigations by providing AI/ML expertise where appropriate.
- Provide technical support to commercial teams during sales and service proposal activities.
- Propose innovative AI solutions that enhance engineering capability and business performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support emerging business needs.

Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline (completed or due to complete soon).
- Good understanding of data analysis, statistical modelling, and machine learning techniques.
- Experience using AI/ML frameworks and libraries including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn.
- Knowledge of mathematics including calculus, probability, statistics, linear algebra, and optimisation.
- Strong computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and parallel/distributed computing.
- Programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, Java, C, or C++.
- Understanding of mathematical optimisation and/or statistical machine learning.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- A pragmatic and flexible approach to solving engineering problems.
- Ability to translate AI/ML knowledge into practical engineering applications.

Desirable
- Understanding of gas and steam turbine operation.
- Experience with SQL and Power BI.
- Experience with 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Modelling (FEM).
