AI Compliance Manager
Location: Manchester, UK | Employment Type: Full-time, On-site
About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious, analytically talented professional to join our AI Compliance team. This role is based in a US-headquartered, global systemically important bank, focused on strengthening governance, validation, and strategic oversight of AI use in alignment with regulatory expectations across the enterprise.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our AI Compliance framework, integrating leading practices, regulatory standards, automation, and AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Uplift and expand the Firm’s AI Regulatory Compliance framework and integrate it into the existing Compliance Lifecycle, including independent review and oversight of potential regulatory risks from new AI proposals.
- Collaborate closely with BNY’s Public Policy and Governance Office and Legal teams to:
- Maintain regulatory horizon scanning
- Analyse complex AI laws, rules, and regulations (e.g., EU AI Act)
- Draft clear, pragmatic guidance for Engineering and business stakeholders
- Represent Compliance in AI governance forums and working groups, providing timely, actionable regulatory compliance advice to:
- AI Hub, Engineering, and business teams
- Partner with Risk and Legal to ensure a unified approach to AI governance
- Bridge the gap between new AI technology, existing financial services regulation, and ethical/reputational considerations by:
- Collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and key 1LOD control groups
- Maintain AI regulatory compliance assessment documents and dashboards, preparing:
- Clear, insightful reporting
- Risk assessments for senior management, committees, and regulators
- Draft responses to AI-related inquiries from regulators and clients.
- Actively utilise BNY’s AI tools, sharing insights and proposing innovations to drive excellence at the intersection of AI and regulation.

Requirements & Qualifications
Key Experience & Skills
- Relevant work experience in one or more of the following:
- Financial Services
- Computer Science
- Information Management Systems
- Law, Data Privacy, or Compliance
- Financial services compliance or AI laws/regulatory experience (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with AI systems with a strong understanding of:
- Risks associated with AI creation and use
- Interest in public policy and international AI frameworks (e.g.):
- EU AI Act
- US state laws (California, Texas, Utah)
- Singapore’s ‘FEAT’ principles
- Ability to translate complex legal/technical concepts into clear, audience-appropriate narratives.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking skills including:
- Clear verbal and written communication (eligible for executive-level materials)
- Comfortable working across multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., Engineering, Compliance, Risk, Legal) in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
- A degree in any of the following is a bonus:
- AI Systems Management
- Information Systems Management
- Finance
- Computer Science

- Engineering
- Law
