Salary: £75,000 per year
Location: London / Hybrid

Employment type: Full-time

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded AI Director to lead the development and implementation of artificial intelligence across our growing media, technology and data operations.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can turn AI strategy into practical systems. You will oversee AI-powered content workflows, automation, data processing, internal tools and future product development, while ensuring quality, reliability, cost efficiency and responsible use.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the company’s AI strategy
  • Oversee AI-powered editorial, automation and data workflows
  • Manage the use of large language models, APIs and local AI infrastructure
  • Work closely with developers to design, test and deploy AI systems
  • Improve the accuracy, speed and cost efficiency of automated processes
  • Establish quality controls, monitoring and governance standards
  • Evaluate new models, tools and technologies
  • Recruit and manage additional AI or technical team members as the company grows
  • Translate commercial requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Ensure AI systems are used responsibly and transparently

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience building or managing production AI systems
  • Practical knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, automation and AI APIs
  • Experience working with Python-based systems and modern cloud infrastructure
  • Understanding of model evaluation, data quality and hallucination reduction
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Experience managing developers, technical projects or AI teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
