About Clovo
Clovo is a health-tech company building applied AI that measurably improves how patients get through surgery and cancer treatment.
We are looking for an AI Engineer to help develop safe, reliable and personalised AI-enabled product features within a regulated healthcare environment.
The Role
You will work across applied AI, backend engineering and product development, helping to take AI capabilities from prototype to production.
You will collaborate with technical, clinical and product colleagues to build systems that are useful, measurable, secure and appropriate for patient-facing use.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain AI-powered product features.
- Build backend services and APIs in Python.
- Integrate large language models and other machine-learning components into production systems.
- Develop evaluation, testing and monitoring processes for AI features.
- Improve system reliability, performance, security and cost efficiency.
- Work with structured and unstructured healthcare-related data.
- Contribute to technical architecture, documentation and engineering standards.
- Support privacy, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Essential Skills
- Strong Python development skills.
- Experience building applications with large language models or machine-learning systems.
- Experience developing backend services or APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL, Git and automated testing.
- Understanding of modern software-development practices.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an early-stage environment.
Desirable Skills
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- LLM evaluation, retrieval or agentic workflows.
- Recommendation or personalisation systems.
- Google Cloud Platform or Firebase.
- Data pipelines and analytics.
- CI/CD, Docker or infrastructure-as-code.
- Mobile application integration.
- Healthcare, regulated software or sensitive data.
- AI safety, observability or model monitoring.

Candidate Profile
This role may suit an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Software Engineer or Data Scientist with strong production-development skills.
Candidates appointed toward the upper end of the salary range will be expected to independently own major technical components and contribute to architecture decisions.
