About The Role
The Senior AI & Robotics Engineer at Nextech Group Limited is a pivotal role within the company's expanding AI and Robotics team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced engineers to lead the design, development, and deployment of intelligent systems that integrate AI, machine learning, and robotics. Working in a hybrid environment based in Oxfordshire, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, data scientists, and product managers. The role involves working on innovative projects that aim to develop next-generation autonomous and robotic systems capable of solving complex real-world problems. The Senior AI & Robotics Engineer will play a key role in shaping the technical strategy, ensuring scalable and reliable AI solutions, and contributing to the company's ongoing technological advancements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of academic credentials and practical experience, including a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate substantial commercial experience in developing AI or machine learning solutions, with strong proficiency in Python programming. Familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is essential. Knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, and autonomous systems is highly desirable. Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and understanding modern software architectures including APIs and microservices, are important. Candidates should also have experience working within Agile development environments and possess excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of ROS/ROS2, LLMs, RAG, agentic AI architectures, reinforcement learning, and motion planning will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-powered software solutions for robotic and autonomous systems, ensuring functionality, scalability, and robustness.
- Build, train, and optimize machine learning models tailored to real-world applications, continuously improving their accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop advanced computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion capabilities to enhance autonomous decision-making.
- Work with emerging AI technologies such as large language models and generative AI to create intelligent workflows and automation processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and data scientists to define technical requirements and develop comprehensive solution architectures.
- Create scalable cloud-based AI services and APIs to facilitate seamless integration and deployment.
- Evaluate new and emerging AI technologies, contributing to the company's strategic direction and product innovation.
- Support ongoing performance tuning, reliability improvements, and scalability enhancements of AI systems.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
