About The Role
Envitia is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join our expanding AI team within the Consulting division. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and responsible AI and machine learning solutions tailored for UK public sector clients, including Defense, Government, and Security/Intelligence agencies. Your work will focus on transforming complex data into trusted insights, operational tools, and decision-support systems that provide strategic advantages to our clients.
This role demands hands-on involvement across a diverse range of client engagements, from developing predictive analytics and machine learning models to pioneering cutting-edge Generative AI applications. You will contribute to the evolution of Envitia’s MLOps capabilities, create reusable AI accelerators, and develop innovative proof-of-concept solutions that demonstrate our AI expertise. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will collaborate closely with data engineers, software developers, analysts, visualization specialists, and consultants, supported by a growing AI Community of Practice.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in AI and data science, with practical experience in developing and deploying machine learning models. Essential qualifications include proficiency in Python programming and hands-on experience with core ML/AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in training, evaluating, and optimizing models, particularly in cloud environments like Microsoft Azure, including Azure AI/ML and Azure OpenAI.
A solid understanding of Generative AI, large language models, and prompt engineering is required, alongside familiarity with MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. Data engineering skills across structured and unstructured data sources, coupled with knowledge of responsible AI principles, data governance, and security, are also essential. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred qualifications include experience in consulting or client-facing roles, familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau, and exposure to geospatial data or UK public sector projects. A relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning and AI models, including predictive analytics, NLP, computer vision, and Generative AI solutions, aligned with client objectives.
- Build scalable, reusable AI products, accelerators, and solution components to streamline delivery across multiple client projects.
- Develop and integrate Generative AI and large language model capabilities using platforms such as Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, ensuring solutions are responsible, secure, and meet client specifications.
- Implement and continuously enhance MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, governance, retraining, and lifecycle management, to ensure reliable production performance.
- Engineer features, datasets, and data pipelines from diverse data sources, working closely with data engineers and analysts to deliver actionable insights.
- Apply responsible AI principles, ensuring fairness, transparency, explainability, security, and compliance throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Collaborate with consultants, technical specialists, and stakeholders to translate operational challenges into practical AI solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Contribute to technical proposals, demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and thought leadership initiatives that showcase Envitia’s AI capabilities and support business growth.
- Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices, identifying opportunities to enhance Envitia’s service offerings.
- Support knowledge sharing, mentoring, and capability development within the AI team and wider consulting community.
