About The Role
Envitia is seeking a talented AI Engineer to join its expanding AI team within the Consulting division. This role offers a unique opportunity to design, develop, and deploy scalable, responsible AI and machine learning solutions tailored for UK public sector clients across defense, government, and security sectors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming complex data into trusted insights, decision-support tools, and operational advantages. As a hands-on delivery professional, you will work on a variety of projects, ranging from machine learning and predictive analytics to cutting-edge Generative AI applications. Your contributions will help shape Envitia’s AI capabilities, including the development of reusable accelerators and innovative proof-of-concept solutions. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams—including data engineers, software engineers, analysts, visualization specialists, and consultants—you will support the delivery of high-impact projects in secure, cloud-native environments. This role provides an excellent platform to leverage your technical expertise and contribute to impactful, mission-critical initiatives that influence national security and public sector operations.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in AI and machine learning, with practical experience in developing and deploying models within cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure. A relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related field is preferred, along with equivalent practical experience. Essential qualifications include proficiency in Python programming and hands-on experience with core ML/AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in developing, training, and evaluating machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive models. Familiarity with Generative AI and large language models, as well as prompt engineering, is highly desirable. Knowledge of MLOps practices—including model deployment, monitoring, governance, and lifecycle management—is crucial. Strong data engineering skills across structured and unstructured data sources, coupled with an understanding of responsible AI principles, data governance, and security, are vital. Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are also required.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning and AI models, including predictive analytics, natural language processing, computer vision, and Generative AI solutions, to support client mission and business outcomes.
- Build scalable, reusable AI products, accelerators, and solution components to enhance delivery efficiency and consistency across multiple client projects.
- Develop and integrate Generative AI and large language model capabilities using platforms such as Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, ensuring solutions are secure, responsible, and aligned with client requirements.
- Implement and continuously improve MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, governance, retraining, and lifecycle management, to ensure reliable production operation of AI systems.
- Engineer features, datasets, and data pipelines from both structured and unstructured data sources, collaborating closely with data engineers and analysts to deliver actionable insights.
- Apply responsible AI principles, ensuring fairness, transparency, explainability, security, and compliance throughout the AI solution lifecycle.
- Work with consultants, technical specialists, and client stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into practical, value-driven AI solutions.
- Contribute to technical proposals, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and thought leadership activities that showcase Envitia's AI capabilities and support business growth.
- Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices, identifying opportunities to enhance Envitia’s offerings and capabilities.
- Support knowledge sharing, mentoring, and capability development within the AI team, wider consulting function, and AI Community of Practice.
