Salary: £70,000 to £90,000 dependent on experience

The Opportunity
Our client is investing heavily in artificial intelligence and data-driven technologies to transform the way teams work and deliver value to clients. As part of this continued investment, they are looking to hire an AI Engineer to join a growing technology function focused on building innovative AI solutions that enhance productivity, automate workflows, and support business decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience designing and deploying AI applications, particularly those leveraging large language models (LLMs). You'll play a key role in taking AI solutions from concept through to production, working across the full development lifecycle to build scalable, user-focused applications.
The ideal candidate will enjoy solving complex technical challenges, experimenting with emerging AI technologies, and delivering high-quality software that has a measurable business impact.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance existing AI applications and services.
- Design, build, deploy, and support new AI-powered solutions that can scale across multiple business functions.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into practical AI solutions.
- Prototype, test, and iterate applications based on user feedback and performance data.
- Analyse structured and unstructured datasets using statistical techniques and machine learning methodologies.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve products and internal capabilities.
- Contribute to best practices across software engineering, AI development, and deployment.

About You
We're looking for someone with a strong engineering mindset who combines technical expertise with curiosity and a passion for applying AI to real-world business problems.
You'll ideally have:
- Commercial experience developing applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and modern Generative AI technologies.
- Experience evaluating, fine-tuning, and optimising foundation models for business use cases.
- Strong Python development skills with experience writing clean, scalable, production-quality code.
- Experience building front-end applications using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
- A solid understanding of machine learning principles, statistics, and data analysis.
- Experience designing AI solutions from concept through to deployment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.

Desirable Experience
- Experience building cloud-native AI applications, ideally within Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated deployments.
- Understanding of secure software development principles.
- Experience working within consulting, professional services, or other client-facing environments.
- Exposure to MLOps frameworks and AI governance would be beneficial.
