Senior AI-Powered Agent Engineer

Contract / Part-Time • Engineering Automation • AI Agents

Join a dynamic project focused on building robust AI-powered agents to streamline and automate engineering workflows. This role involves developing private coding, review, testing, documentation, and release agents for deployment in production environments by engineering teams.

The position requires transforming complex, manual engineering processes into AI-assisted systems that enhance productivity, code quality, and system reliability. Success will hinge on collaboration with engineering teams to prototype, launch, and iterate on agent-driven solutions across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement agent workflows integrating with:

    • GitHub
    • Ticketing systems
    • CI pipelines
    • Documentation tools
    • Deployment mechanisms
  • Build codebase-aware retrieval systems, including:

    • Task planning modules
    • Prompt orchestration
    • Tool calling integration
    • Automated code review flows

  • Develop agents capable of:

    • Opening pull requests
    • Generating automated tests
    • Summarising releases
    • Requesting approvals for sensitive changes
  • Implement critical security and reliability components:

    • Permission models
    • Approval states
    • Audit logs
    • Evaluation frameworks
    • Rollback procedures
  • Create comprehensive testing and benchmarking suites to measure agent performance and reliability.

  • Work closely with client engineers to:

    • Gather requirements
    • Prototype solutions
    • Iterate on improvements
    • Refine product roadmaps.
  • Ensure all systems adhere to:

    • Security best practices
    • Reliability standards
    • Code maintainability principles

Skills & Eligibility

Minimum requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience building production-grade software systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one of: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • LLM APIs
    • Coding agents
    • Engineering automation
    • AI-assisted development tools.

Desirable or preferred:

  • CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) expertise.

  • Experience with static analysis and code review automation.

  • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and model evaluation.

  • Familiarity with policy-driven workflows and safety-first AI deployments.

  • Strong written communication skills for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration.

  • Ability to work independently while managing priorities in a freelance/contract-capacity.

  • Secure coding practices and permission-model design background.
