This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. As an AI Engineer - Performance Team, you will play a critical role in enhancing the performance, accuracy, and scalability of AI-powered solutions used weekly by thousands of users. In a fully remote yet collaborative environment, your responsibilities include designing, evaluating, and optimizing AI agents while ensuring production reliability. This role bridges experimentation, analytical disciplines, and hands-on development—offering you exposure to leading-edge LLM technologies and emerging AI tools. Your work will directly shape the future of AI systems, turning innovative ideas into scalable, high-impact solutions.
About the Role

Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and optimize AI agents to improve performance, reliability, and user experience in production.
- Create, maintain, and enhance evaluation frameworks to measure agent accuracy and uphold quality standards.
- Monitor user feedback, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement improvements based on real-world data.
- Conduct cutting-edge experiments involving prompts, models, agent architectures, and workflows for maximum efficiency.
- Maintain and scale AI evaluation infrastructure within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Stay updated on the latest AI, large language model (LLM), and agent technology advancements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver seamless AI experiences.
- Document findings, experiments, and learnings to establish lasting AI performance best practices.

Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Practical coding proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) via professional or personal projects.
- Experience designing, building, or optimizing AI agents and agent-based workflows.
- Strong understanding of LLM providers, model capabilities, limitations, and trade-offs.
- Familiarity with AI development tools and frameworks, including OpenAPI and modern agent ecosystems (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen).
- Exposure to AI observability, monitoring, or evaluation tools (advantageous).
- Background in open-source AI models or frameworks is a bonus.
- Experience in software engineering, product development, QA, or data-related disciplines.
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Analytical mindset with a passion for experimentation, testing, and iteration.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous and evolving processes.
- Excellent communication skills and strong collaboration ability.
- Proficient in English; knowledge of Portuguese, Spanish, or Italian is considered a plus.
- Adaptability to new challenges in fast-moving fields.
