AI Engineer (Enterprise AI Applications)

Location: London (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract - Long Term
Day Rate: DoE
IR35: Outside

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking an AI Engineer for our client who can design, build and deploy modern enterprise AI applications at speed. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑moving engineering environments, leverages AI tools daily, and enjoys building production‑grade solutions across cloud platforms.

You’ll work on strategic programmes delivering AI‑powered applications, agents and intelligent workflows for enterprise customers.

What You’ll Work On

  • Building AI‑powered web applications using React, TypeScript, Next.js, Python and FastAPI
  • Designing and developing AI Agents, Copilots, RAG pipelines and multi‑agent workflows
  • Integrating leading LLMs including Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Claude and Gemini
  • Developing scalable APIs, microservices and cloud‑native services
  • Using AI tools throughout the SDLC: coding, testing, optimisation and documentation
  • Creating enterprise integrations with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, Dynamics and other SaaS platforms
  • Contributing to architecture, DevOps, CI/CD and engineering best practice

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong skills in React/TypeScript and Python/FastAPI (or Node.js)
  • Hands‑on experience with LLMs, Prompt Engineering, RAG, AI Agents
  • Daily use of AI development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, Windsurf, Cline, Roo Code)
  • Experience with Docker, APIs, Git and at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Clear communication and the ability to collaborate with distributed engineering teams
