About the Squad
The AI and Transaction Data Governance squad is responsible for:
- Defining governance practices for AI and Transaction Data
- Building AI literacy across SWIFT to ensure safe, effective adoption and usage
- Leading AI literacy efforts and managing governance frameworks and data catalogues
The ultimate goal is greater clarity, reduced risk, and increased trust in the use of AI and Transaction Data within SWIFT.
AI Governance Senior Lead
Key Role Summary
You will work closely with a small high-performing team to shape and drive SWIFT’s AI governance agenda. Your responsibility includes aligning strategic priorities with delivery across multiple teams, leading high-impact initiatives, and translating definition and governance challenges into clear, practical outcomes that enable innovation with integrity.

- Define and drive the AI governance direction within SWIFT
- Align priorities with regulatory frameworks, risk appetite, and business needs

• Complex Delivery
- Collaborate with business stakeholders across broad yet ambiguous scope areas
- Support use case owners in managing dependencies, priorities, and risks across teams to keep quality and momentum intact
- Balance speed and compliance effectively
• Cross-Team Alignment
- Foster collaboration among product, data science, engineering, legal, compliance, security, and financial risk teams
- Cultivate a culture of AI excellence, responsibility, and innovation
- Enhance governance quality beyond your output
• Quality Standards
- Strengthen AI governance through continuous improvement of standards, frameworks, and review processes
- Elevate the organisation’s AI governance maturity and operational readiness
• Capability Building
- Develop stakeholders’ AI governance literacy through coaching and training initiatives
- Support the creation of work conditions and collaborative practices for effective AI delivery
• Accountability & Resolution
- Ensure stakeholders adhere to commitments and proactively highlight delivery risks
- Effectively de-escalate conflicts or resolve blockers that impair outcomes
• Ethics & Social Responsibility
- Promote ethical AI principles aligned with fairness, transparency, and accountability
- Monitor R&D and implementation of AI initiatives in line with these values
• Monitoring and Reporting
- Implement mechanisms for tracking AI usage, performance, and compliance with governance standards
• External Engagement
- Represent SWIFT in global industry forums
- Collaborate with external experts on emerging AI regulatory landscapes, trends, and best practices
Ideal Candidate
You should: -Deliver meaningful AI governance outcomes while learning from evolving or ambiguous environments -Collaborate to improve and scale AI governance maturity and delivery standards beyond immediate domain responsibilities -Have exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, including facilitation of workshops, training sessions, and strategic discussions -Possess in-depth, current knowledge of IA technology, global AI governance regulations, and international standards -Demonstrate a capacity for thought leadership and result-driven leadership
