Senior Lead – AI Governance

About the Role
The AI and Transaction Data Governance squad crafts governance practices for AI and transaction data while building organisational AI literacy. Your mission: enable Swift to adopt AI safely, ethically, and effectively.
As AI Governance Senior Lead, you’ll:
- Align with a strategic team to shape Swift’s AI governance agenda.
- Translate high-level priorities into actionable outcomes.
- Collaborate across engineering, data science, product teams, compliance, legal, risk, and security to foster responsible innovation.
Think of yourself as the navigator driving AI adoption at scale—bridging complexity with clarity and setting principals for a trustworthy, equitable, and high-performance AI ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Define and refine AI governance direction, balancing regulatory compliance, business needs, and control frameworks.
- Scope and prioritiise major AI initiatives aligned with company values and risk appetite.
2. Complex Delivery
- Partner with business use case owners across broad scopes—managing dependencies, setting priorities, and minimising risks to sustain project momentum.
- Ensure transparency and cohesion across rapidly evolving AI demands.

3. Cross-Team Alignment
- Coordinate between product, data science, engineering, legal, compliance, security, and risk teams to unify AI standards and strengthen responsible innovation culture.
4. Quality and Standards
- Drive improvements in governance quality through framework development, review processes, and operational rigour.
- Champion scalability and consistency in AI governance maturity across Swift.
5. Capability Building
- Mentor teams, lead collaboration growth, and train key stakeholders to nuances of AI governance for collective empowerment.
6. Accountability and Resolution
- Hold stakeholders accountable to timelines, keep risks visible, and resolve roadblocks affecting project success.
7. Ethical AI
- Uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI system design and use.
- Help identify biases, ethical dilemmas, and long-term societal impacts of AI decisions.
8. Monitoring and Reporting
- Develop systems to track AI usage, performance metrics, and compliance with internal governance.
9. External Engagement
- Represent Swift in industry forums, AI advisory groups, and partnerships to stay at the forefront of trends and best practices.
