About ArkGrid
ArkGrid is an AI-native energy technology company building a software platform for the UK residential energy market. Our platform supports the design, installation and management of home energy systems, including solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, smart meters and future home energy management solutions. We are combining AI agents, workflow automation, software engineering and energy domain knowledge to make residential energy projects faster, smarter and more scalable.
We are now looking for an AI Platform Engineer – Energy Technology to join our technical team and help build the core platform.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys building real products, not just prototypes.
You will work closely with the founders, product team and other engineers to develop ArkGrid’s AI-native platform, including installer workflow tools, customer-facing applications, AI-assisted processes, data integrations and automation systems.
The role requires strong software engineering ability, curiosity about AI-native development, and the willingness to work across different parts of the product in a fast-moving startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and improve ArkGrid’s AI-native software platform for residential energy.
- Develop tools for solar, battery, EV charging and home energy management workflows.
- Work on AI-assisted features, workflow automation and agent-based product functions.
- Build and integrate APIs, databases, internal tools and user-facing interfaces.
- Support the development of installer tools, customer journey automation and project management workflows.
- Work with energy-related data, documents, images and operational processes.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to turn real user needs into working software.
- Test, debug, deploy and continuously improve platform features.
- Help evaluate and adopt modern AI development tools, coding assistants and automation frameworks.
- Contribute to technical decisions as ArkGrid scales its platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
