About the Role

Level: 5 Department: Chief Data Office Location: London or Southampton Contract Type: Permanent

This AI Product Lead role reports directly to the Head of AI and sits within the Chief Data Office. It requires technical expertise in Machine Learning and Generative AI, coupled with product leadership, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement to develop scalable, impactful AI solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • AI Product Strategy & Roadmap

    • Define, own, and execute the AI product vision and roadmap
    • Align use cases with business value and strategic objectives
    • Translate business needs into AI problem statements and delivery plans
  • Project & Delivery Management

    • Lead end-to-end AI product delivery using agile methodologies
    • Manage milestones, dependencies, and risks for timely and high-quality outcomes
  • Value Realisation & Adoption

    • Track product performance, business impact, and user adoption
    • Continuously evolve AI solutions based on feedback and performance metrics
  • AI Governance & Responsible AI Alignment

    • Collaborate with AI Governance, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams
    • Ensure adherence to Quilter’s AI governance framework
  • Model Risk & Evaluation Oversight

    • Apply robust evaluation frameworks (accuracy, fairness, bias, explainability, hallucination monitoring)
    • Support model validation prior to production deployment

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

    • Build collaborative relationships across business units, technology, and senior stakeholders
    • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring alignment, transparency, and execution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work with AI Scientists, Engineers, Product Owners, and business SMEs
    • Ensure seamless AI solution delivery across the development lifecycle
  • Leadership & Team Contribution

    • Lead and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance and delivery-focused culture
  • Third-Party Vendor Assessment & Due Diligence

    • Provide technical and product leadership in evaluating AI vendors
    • Support risk assessment, compliance, and secure AI adoption

About You

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or similar)
  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in AI, Data Science, or a related field is advantageous but not required
  • Certifications in AI/ML, Product Management, or Agile Delivery (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) are advantageous

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Machine Learning, Generative AI, and LLM-based solutions
    • AI product lifecycle and delivery frameworks (agile methodologies)
    • AI governance frameworks, model risk management, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, EU AI Act, FCA guidance)
    • Evaluation techniques and performance measurement
    • Third-party AI ecosystems and vendor integration
  • Experience in:

    • AI Product Management, AI Delivery Lead, or similar roles
    • Delivering AI/ML/GenAI products from concept to production
    • Agile project delivery (JIRA/Confluence) and backlog prioritisation
    • Operating in regulated industries (preferably financial services)
    • Contributing to AI governance, model validation, and risk management
    • Evaluating and onboarding third-party AI vendors and solutions

  • Excel in project management, planning, and organisation
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels
  • Effective communication and presentation (including executive-level engagement)
  • Ability to translate complex AI concepts into business-driven outcomes
